My hometown of Rockford, Ill switched to Alexandria
MN at around the age of 12. Along with my parents,
2 brothers and sister, we made the move to the land of lakes. After
adjusting to the new surroundings and friends I realized that this was
a great place to call home! Music was a common thread that held things
together for me during the move. I received my first guitar from my
dad at an early age and after learning a few basic chords I wrote my
first song about my newly born baby sister. I had found a passion! The
only problem was that my major stage-fright caused an inability to play
in front of people? During my first year at college my brother Steve
convinced me to front his band for a local talent show. I accepted,
and we've been playing together ever since. My journey in music has
run parallel to my faith walk. I accepted Jesus shortly after moving
to Minnesota. I remember it like yesterday. Our pastor visited my home
one night, and during a prayer around the kitchen table, I believed
in Jesus as my Lord and Savior, and confessed Him as such over my life.
The only one who is able
to forgive my of my sins What a
journey it's been ever since.
My
ministry has spanned the last 15 years. Experiences include traveling
the midwest musically, volunteer work with Youth For Christ, visiting
inmates and youth detained in correctional facilities to share the Gospel,
and leading worship throughout the region. My former band Here Lies
Franklin won the New
Union / Club 3 Degrees midwest band tournament in 1994. I have served
as pastor of both worship and youth..
My wife, soul mate and best friend Robbi has been here as my team
mate for all the above.
Our relationship is a miracle from heaven for both of us.
From being on stage in front of thousands to sitting at home jamming
with my kids. From leading worship in local churches to sitting across
from a frightened youth in lock-up....what I've learned through all
of these experiences is that the good news of Christ cannot be kept
to ourselves once we've experienced its freedom.
We've got to share it! ... with LOVE, and live it! with
JOY!
Romans 12:1-2 "So here's what I want you to do, God helping
you: Take your everyday, ordinary life--your sleeping, eating, going-to-work,
and walking-around life--and place it before God as an offering. Embracing
what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become
so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside
out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to
it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level
of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed
maturity in you."
Over
the last 5 years I have chosen to name the music ministry Music and
Soul Interactive or The Masi Band for short!
The origin and destination of ministry remains the same
... but now with a more focused strategy. To KEEP IT SIMPLE!
I have a desire to see people of a like-minded faith come together for
the common goal of surrendering our collective ALL to Jesus
... because of what He has accomplished on the cross.
We are His passion ... so let's give Him ours.
From
witnessing the miracle of birth ... to experiencing the depths of loss
through the death of loved ones... I have found that the only way to
make it through life's mountains and valleys is to WORSHIP HIM. For
who He is and what He's done.
Keeping the focus off of ourselves and on His will for our lives.
To simply be a child of God.

So
that's what's up with the picture of the baby on my cards. For me, his
face says it all.
Music. Soul. Simple!

To be continued... everyday. Greg
